Psychotherapy practice

Terms of work

Please read the terms carefully before booking a consultation

Professional work involves a live dialogue, where not only the words matter but also the context, emotional reactions, the way we interact and many nuances that cannot be fully conveyed in writing.

That is why questions that require psychological work are addressed directly in a consultation — in person or online.

I do not consult in writing

I do not consult in writing — not via Direct, e-mail or WhatsApp.

For counselling and therapy what matters is your wish and readiness to work on yourself, not where you live.

  • Online

Online consultations can take place by video call:

Booking and payment

How to book a consultation

When booking the first session you can briefly describe your situation and outline your request.

If it is hard to put into words right away, that is normal. We can clarify and formulate it together as we work.

Payment is made no later than 24 hours before the session. This guarantees that the chosen time is reserved for you.

The focus of the work is the person who asked for help

Their feelings, thoughts, reactions, ways of interacting, needs and expectations.

  1. 01

I can help you understand what is happening in your relationships with other people, see the causes of what is going on and explore your own reactions and ways of interacting.

  2. 02

At the same time, it is impossible to fully assess another person's psychological state, determine the reasons for their behaviour or change them without their direct participation in the work.

  3. 03

So requests like "how do I change my husband / mother / partner / boss" are redirected to what can really be influenced: yourself, your decisions, boundaries, reactions and ways of building relationships.

For those ready to work

Psychotherapy is a joint process

I work with people who make their own decision to seek help and are ready to gradually explore themselves, their feelings, beliefs and habitual ways of reacting.

You do not have to understand right away what exactly the problem is or what needs to change. I can help with that.

But it is important to be ready not only to receive recommendations, but to take part in the process, notice new things about yourself and gradually try to change something.

When the work may be ineffective

Psychotherapy may turn out to be not effective enough if:

  • You expect an instant result and want to solve the problem “here and now”

  • You are not ready to explore your own feelings, reactions, beliefs and ways of behaving

  • The main goal of the work is to change another person

  • You regularly cancel or reschedule sessions without keeping to the agreements

  • You see what is happening solely through the lens of other people’s guilt and are not ready to explore your own role in the situation

  • Your current condition first of all requires psychiatric or other medical help

When psychiatric support is needed, psychotherapy can be carried out in parallel with supervision by a psychiatrist.

Cancelling and rescheduling

Cancellation and rescheduling rules

If you cancel or reschedule a booked session less than 24 hours in advance, the time stays reserved for you and is payable.

The exception is genuine force majeure: unforeseen events that could not have been prevented or controlled.

Illness, urgent work matters, suddenly changed plans and other similar situations are not force majeure in themselves.

At the same time, I understand that unforeseen circumstances happen. That is why we agree on the rules for rescheduling and cancelling sessions in advance.

For example:

Emergencies; natural disasters; large-scale accidents; other circumstances beyond one's control. It is a matter of mutual responsibility and respect for each other's time.

Formats of work

Depending on the request and goals, the work can be:

The format of work is chosen individually and may change depending on the dynamics of the process.

  • One-off

A single consultation to look into a specific situation or get a professional outside view.

  • A course

A series of sessions, the number of which is agreed together at the start and can be adjusted along the way if needed.

  • Long-term

Regular psychotherapeutic work aimed at a deeper exploration of the causes of difficulties and lasting change.

Working with couples and teenagers

  • The family as a system

Work with a couple is effective when both partners are ready to take part in the process and share a common goal — to understand what is happening and find possible ways to change the relationship.

If separate sessions with one of the partners become necessary during the work, they are held within that partner’s own request and the agreed goals.

When working individually with your partner, I keep confidentiality and do not disclose to a third party the content of the sessions, the specifics of the process or the results of the individual work.

  • Personal boundaries of growing up

I work with teenagers from the age of 15, provided they themselves agree to psychological work.

It is important that the teenager:

    • expresses their own wish to attend the sessions;
    • understands that they are the participant in the process;
    • can formulate their own request;
    • is not pressured by their parents.

When working with a teenager, the parents’ request and the teenager’s own request may differ. In psychotherapy we work first of all with the request that matters to the teenager.

Consultations are confidential, including towards the parents.

At the same time, there are situations in which confidentiality has limits. If during the work it becomes known that the teenager’s life or health is in immediate danger, I may pass the necessary information on to their legal representatives.

Take a step towards yourself

You don’t have to wait until things get really hard, or know in advance how to put your request into words.

The first consultation is a chance to calmly talk through what is happening and understand which format of work may suit you.
